MXK/FiberLAN/ZMS Training

This is a 5 day course that focuses on DZS GPON and Active Ethernet products for Service Provider and Enterprise customers.  Service Provider networks are typically residential and small businesses while Enterprise networks are typically multi-unit commercial and industrial complexes including hotels, apartment complexes, malls, campus networks, etc.   The course assumes a working knowledge of fiber optic installation and test of L2 Local Area Network (LAN) applications.  The course provides details on the operation and use of Optical Line Terminals (OLTs) and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) deployed for Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Fiber to the Business (FTTB) and Passive Optical LAN applications.   Although the applications are somewhat different between Service Provider and Enterprise networks, the OAM&P functions of the product in each market are the same.  The DZS MXK/FiberLAN product family includes the MXK (194/198/319/819/823) and MXK-F (219/1419/1421).  The Zhone Management System (ZMS) includes the java-based NetHorizon application and the browser-based Web Client application.  A wide array of CPE options includes fiber ONTs and copper modems for Service Providers as well as Enterprise Passive Optical Local Area Networks.

Training Details

Prerequisite:

Basic understanding of Ethernet layer 2 bridging and packet forwarding principles, understanding of Voice and Video IP services

Students must bring a laptop computer or tablet with the interface to a 10/100/1000 LAN network and a serial interface.  Software applications should include serial, telnet and/or SSH capabilities along with the ability to view PowerPoint, Word, Excel and .pdf documents.  Java 7 or higher should also be loaded onto the laptop or tablet

Description:

The DZS MXK is a high-density multi-access line concentrator developed to support both fiber and copper interfaces in the same chassis to deliver any service to subscribers in a residential network.  FiberLAN, specifically GPON, is a high-density cost effective fiber alternative to a copper infrastructure for delivering broadband services in commercial and industrial business complexes including hotels, apartment complexes, malls, campus networks, etc.

ZMS management is a Graphic User Interface (GUI) that provides two interfaces.  The first interface is a java-based suite of client/server applications designed to provide flexible network management of the DZS family of networking products.  The second interface is a browser-based application that provides the same functionality as the java-based applications

Through a series of lectures and hands-on exercises, students will be able to configure, provision, administer, manage and troubleshoot the DZS family of networking products using multiple interfaces.

Note:

45-day advance registration and a hard copy PO are required to guarantee seats and class availability.  If a PO is issued less than 45 days prior to the start date of the class, no discount is offered.  DZS requires a minimum of three (3) students to conduct a course in Oakland, CA and a minimum of five (5) students to conduct a course in Olathe, KS or Seminole, FL.  Student minimum/maximum for customer on-site courses are negotiated.

*For customer on-site courses, DZS and Customer must mutually agree in advance to a training schedule and content to be delivered
