Application

Service providers require a residential broadband solution that offers the complete coverage across a diverse footprint using either copper or fiber, often on very long loops.

To offer residential broadband on either facility owned or unbundled copper lines, an access system that delivers optimal rate and reach performance on copper is needed. The access system should allow the service provider the flexibility to choose the broadband copper or fiber options that best suit its current network infrastructure, as well its projected future needs.

MXK™, an intelligent terabit access concentrator, is a category-defining full service access platform that can deliver high bandwidth residential broadband. The new MXK platform, featuring a 2x bandwidth improvement over the closest competitor, is a notable addition to the Zhone MSAP family, with non-blocking capacity of up to 3,600 100Mbps GPON subscribers or 360 1G Active Ethernet subscribers per chassis. Zhone’s MXK, available in 3U and 8U form factors is the highest-density, lowest cost access line concentrator in the industry. Its ability to deliver high volume service within a minimum of rack or cabinet space makes it the leading broadband access choice of ILEC's, CLEC's and PTT's worldwide.

The MXK allows both G-PON and Active Ethernet in the same chassis and its menu of options allows tailoring solutions to best meet the diverse needs of residential and business customers.

Because the MXK is a part of the Zhone MSAP family, it seamlessly integrates with our top performing existing MSAP platforms to enable all other residential access technologies including ADSL2+, VDSL2, POTS, and EFM.

By integrating with our MALC, the MXK supports an industry standard ReachDSL option that allows service providers to deliver fast broadband connections up to 40,000 feet (12.2 Km). Zhone’s ReachDSL technology also provides outstanding performance when lesser quality copper loops are utilized.

• Residential modems and ONT's: Zhone has a complete line of DSL modems, multi-port routers and WiFi models enabling a full-featured residential broadband service. Zhone also has a corresponding fiber ONT line for it’s FTTx solutions.
• Environmental: The MXK is GR-487 and GR-63 compliant and is designed for outside plant deployment.
