Designed to simplify operations across increasingly complex broadband and optical networks, Xtreme M&C provides service providers with a single, converged management application for both optical transport (ROADM) and broadband access (PON/AE) infrastructure — enabling faster service delivery, streamlined operations, and actionable visibility across the entire network from one platform.
The latest release expands Xtreme’s capabilities and platform management while reinforcing our commitment to open integration and operational automation. Xtreme manages Zhone’s Saber and O-Series optical transport products, Zhone’s Velocity series OLTS starting with V1-16XC-E OLTs, as well as standards-compliant third-party ONTs, through a unified interface. The Xtreme SDN-C platform communicates with network elements via NETCONF YANG and exposes northbound interfaces for OSS/BSS integration, while Kafka subscriptions enable operators to retrieve real-time topology, device inventory, ONT layout, and performance metrics for integration with third-party analytics and automation systems.

This release introduces significant enhancements across the transport, access, and platform layers, as well as a new installation tool to streamline deployments:
Installation & Deployment
- New Web Application that helps simplify deployment of Xtreme on a virtual machine (VM) or Kubernetes (K8s) based environment both for an air-gapped install as well as for remote deployments.
Transport Solution Management
- ROADM performance monitoring (PM) data now available via the Xtreme UI and Kafka, enabling operators to monitor optical amplifier and reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer health in real time.
- Network topology views now include O-Series equipment with live alarm overlays, giving operations teams a single-pane view of transport network health.
- New network frequency and wavelength maps provide path utilization visibility, allowing capacity planners to identify congested or available spectrum at a glance.
- Automatic power balancing can now be re-applied on demand, streamlining optical power management without manual intervention.
Broadband Access Solution Management
- Support for Vx OLTs, expanding Xtreme’s access management coverage to the latest Zhone OLT software.
- ZMS alarms are now consolidated into Xtreme as a single point of alarm management, reducing the need for operators to monitor multiple element management systems.
Platform Enhancements
- Alarm filtering now supports queries for acknowledged and assigned alarms, enabling more precise triage and faster mean time to resolution.
- Kafka is now available for external northbound access, allowing OSS and analytics platforms to subscribe to topology, device, ONT, and performance data streams in real time.
