Zhone’s newly launched line cards deliver increased port density for 1G/10G services, 50G services, and are backward compatible—enabling efficient scaling within existing OLT chassis.
Plano, Texas, April 30, 2026 – Zhone Technologies, Inc. (“Zhone” or the “Company”) today announced new advanced line cards for its Velocity Access Edge Series of PON platforms. All of the three line cards are slot-compatible across each of Zhone’s existing Velocity V2, V6, V14, and V16 Chassis-based solutions supporting xPON and Active Ethernet enabling operators to dramatically increase network capacity and transition to 50G PON services.
Two of the three new advanced line cards enable high-density GPON and XGS-PON deployments, doubling the port capacity from 16 ports to 32 ports per slot. This allows service providers to more efficiently and cost effectively scale subscriber counts without increasing chassis footprint. In addition, the third new advanced line card enables next-generation 50G PON deployments providing a seamless path to both higher speed broadband services, and higher density optical splits while supporting coexistence with existing GPON and XGS-PON deployments. All managed via Zhone’s Xtreme Management and Control System.
- V-LC-GPON-32 and V-LC-XGSP-32: Dual-density GPON and XGS-PON line cards with 32 ports. It doubles your GPON or XGS-PON subscriber count with the same OLT chassis, lowers your power consumption, and reduces your cost per subscriber by ~50%. Ideal for mass scale new growth or densifying existing GPON and XGS-PON footprints ahead of 50G migration.
- V-LC-50GP-COMBO-8: Eight port 50G PON line card with support for triple co-existence for GPON, XGS-PON, and 50G-PON. It is the future for even greater speed of broadband access, delivered today. It provides headroom for 10G+ residential tiers, enterprise symmetric services, and mobile xHaul — all from your current chassis infrastructure and lowest power consumption.

The new line cards are fully backward compatible with all the existing Velocity Chassis. All share common software and management, power and hardware-based security, and switch fabrics for aggregation. They are all managed with Zhone’s Xtreme Management and Control System Platform. Operators can mix and match generations of PON technology within a single chassis, enabling a phased upgrade path that protects capital investment while expanding capacity.
